The two-way connection of Greek (and Cypriot) healthcare professionals in Greece, Cyprus and abroad

Greek healthcare professionals train, work and move practically all over the world, as the healthcare systems, despite any differences, do not cease to have basic similarities between them. However, Greece is a country that keeps its children close to it in various ways and healthcare professionals are no exception.

So there is this huge and multifaceted presence and experience of Greek healthcare professionals from abroad and there is also the domestic Greek experience and reality of healthcare. We believe that it is worth the effort to bring these two closer and in a meaningful way.

This interconnection and strengthening of ties will be done by studying the common interests and best interests of Greek healthcare professionals as well as by mutual support of a moral as well as a professional and practical nature.

The contribution to the holistic education of Greek healthcare professionals in matters of common interest and in collaboration with other scientific bodies with related subjects and interests.

The areas of education to which the Association aspires to contribute are those common to all healthcare professionals. And these are not few.

The healthcare professional must have a multifaceted education, which he/she must also constantly enrich.

Being good at one’s job is of course absolutely necessary but not enough for a healthcare professional.

Beyond that, he/she must necessarily know "a little bit of everything" and not only that: he/she must constantly renew oneself to the point of reinventing oneself every now and then. And the way to achieve this is to learn from people around him/her and situations around him/her. From the fellow healthcare professionals, from other professions and especially the so-called humanitarian professions and from everything else that happens in social becoming, from the simplest to the most complex.

It was once said that humans are by nature social beings and an exception to this rule would make one a beast or a god.

It is certain that many healthcare professionals have felt or even outwardly appeared to be each of the three at various times

The study of the course of healthcare professions over time and the position and role of healthcare professionals in society.

The role of healthcare professionals in society has always been important and will never cease to be. The sizes may change but, whether we are talking about a village or the world, the so-called humanitarian professions (the ones that serve essential Institutions and social needs like healthcare, education, justice, the observance of laws, spiritual guidance, State structures and politics), especially in times of crisis, are those that have the primary role. Mainly because they are integrally linked to undertaking responsibility for others.

It is therefore in the nature of healthcare professionals to assume responsibility and, when they avoid taking them or leave them to others, they harm themselves and what they do and the Society as a whole.

So they MUST undertake responsibility because that is their role. And in order to play their role properly, they need to acquire and develop the appropriate skills, to ensure they stay in coordination with the surroundings and the social becoming, to constantly learn, evolve and adapt.
