The History of the Association
As our Association aspires to embrace potentially all categories of healthcare professionals, we are by default a group with huge differences between us in terms of education and experience. Additionally, a wide age range is represented.
So how could such highly disparate group survive, cohere, function successfully, grow and evolve over time? Even more so when the central purpose of the Association is the liaison between Greek healthcare professionals based in Greece and abroad, where the difficulties of distance and difference of mentality come into play, both important.
At first reading this project seems extremely difficult to impossible and a waste of time.
And indeed the risk we are taking is great.
What sources do we extract from our optimism and motivation for this venture?
First of all, the basic principles of the Healthcare Sciences, as described by Hippocrates and which constitute our cohesive link and our common points, are so strong and so time-tested that they are a guarantee of unity and therefore of success and longevity. We definitely plan to study in depth and at length exactly what these principles are and what their relevance is in modern times..
Secondly, we are inspired by the continuing interest of the younger generations, despite the far from favorable circumstances, in the healthcare professions.
Thirdly, there is a common sense that it is precisely the lack of real interconnection between healthcare professionals that is centrally responsible for the common problems most healthcare systems face around the world. Healthcare professionals do not play the role they should play in modern societies and this, as has been said elsewhere, harms both them and society.
Fourthly, we insist on believing in people , we insist on believing in Greek people and what they can achieve when they come together, especially under adverse circumstances. There is an abundance of evidence for this from the past, so it is not wishful thinking. Besides, there is no other way.
